Point Dume Engagement Photos in Malibu, California
Point Dume is a natural promontory headland jutting into the Pacific Ocean along the Malibu coastline in Southern California. A site for seasonal whale watching, this location also boasts dramatic cliffs overlooking the sea, miles of hiking trails that cut through the natural landscape, and picturesque white sand beaches. There are countless opportunities for portraits with panoramic views of the Malibu coast—perfect for engagement photos! This is where we met up with Whitney and her groom-to-be, Mitch. Although the couple currently resides in Nebraska, they are planning a destination wedding in the California desert next spring. Because the ocean means a great deal to Whitney, they decided on a seaside engagement photography session near the beach while visiting family in Los Angeles. Point Dume in Malibu is a special place for Whitney as her father used to live nearby and she spent quite a bit of time there as a child. We first started on the seaside bluffs that overlook the ocean. Whitney, a professional dancer, donned a gorgeous pale blue tulle dress with white strap stilettos and her fiancé Mitch sported a white polo with matching blue shorts. Walking along the trails surrounded by roosting pelicans, we were able to capture some stunning portraits framed by the dramatic landscape. After a quick outfit change, the bride-to-be slipped on a stunning strapless white lace maxi dress, while Mitch wore a linen white shirt with smart khaki slacks. We made our way down to Westward Beach for sunset and were able to capture some of the most romantic and magical portraits we’ve ever photographed.
